WAHAP intervenes by taking the orphans and vulnerable children back to school or finding a better way of life for them other than child labor or having sex with tourists for money. We believe that these interventions help stop the virus before it reaches these children. Currently, WAHAP is running a nursery shool for OVCs in conjunction with Watamu Women Group where 56 OVCs are getting free nursery school education. The significance of this school is that the government gives free education only in primary school. While it is mandatory to graduate from nursery school to ordinary shool. So these little ones are getting free education right from the lowest level of education.
This photo shows the status at August 2006 of the construction of the new nursery, further money is necessary to complete it.

The nursery under construction is based near Watamu, in the village of Timboni.

The photo on the right has been taken at the beginning of September 2006. It shows the improvents made in the building of nursery: The woodwork for the roof is already up. We are waiting for a lady coming from Italy who will help us
with the rest of the roofing materials.
